So far this has worked just as advertised. I haven't used it a lot yet, but when I have it's been just what I needed. The range of the wireless mic is excellent, and the quality of the recordings throughout the range is very good. Haven't had a chance to monitor battery life. Easy to use and set up. Need to cover the blue "connected" light on the mic. It draws your eyes to that and not the subject you're recording.

Disappointed
I would love to write a review for this device, however, I haven't had the chance to use it. I bought this device under the impression I was going to be able to use it with the Handycam model I purchased. I even spoke to SonyStyle and they confirmed it was the proper model and device for my Handycam...not so much. So now I have a Handycam and a wireless microphone that are not compatible. Thanks a lot Sony, you've outdone yourself once again.

Range was much better than anticipated... as far as 579 feet! See video on YouTube (ECM-HW2 lilipuha).
Quality excellent. I use this to record cello in lessons and concerts. Does a fine job in 5.1 mode.
Wind sock REALLY works... and hides that bright blue light without diminishing essential sound quality.
Interesting that using Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9.0, the Mic channel is the "Front Left & Right" channels, rather than the Center channel as described in the literature. Used this mic in presence of 802-11n LAN without adverse effect.

I have used this with a brand new Sony Handycam several times. It works great! I can pick up my daughter's skating coach from at least 100 meters away, maybe more, with perfect clarity. Even on a windy day, the wind sock protects the microphone and allows crystal clear sound to come through.

I havent used this much yet, but I think it is going to be a good asset in my videos. The blue light is a little distracting.
